John S. Kinnard Custom Kiku

John S. Kinnard Series 3++ Custom Tenor Z-Stock

This is a beautiful Series 3++ custom tenor in East Indian Rosewood (EIR)with a Western Red Cedar top.  It has a custom drop necklace rosette and half herringbone top purfling that is carried over into the rosette.  The rosette consists of EIR and blue Pau abalone bordered in the half herringbone purfling to match the top.  A mahogany neck matches the coloring of the EIR and is topped with our custom Z headstock design with black Gotoh UPT tuners.  Series 3 mitered purfling with EIR binding gives it a very clean understated look.  The faceplate, bridge and fingerboard are ebony with mother of pearl (MOP) front and side fret markers.  It comes with a side soundport and is set up with strap pins on the heel of the neck and the end of the body.

This is a beautiful custom Kinnard Kiku in Cocobolo with a torrified Sitka Spruce top that sounds absolutely amazing.  It has a 20" scale and 1-7/8" nut width.  The cocobolo in the body is matched up with curly Koa binding with our Series 3 mitered purfling motif and features a side soundport to bring the sound up to the players ear.  The torrifed Sitka is a beautiful honey color and matches nicely with the custom floating rosette in abalone that distinguishes it as "Kiku".  For the neck we used Mahogany to match the coloring in the Cocobolo and did our "floating inlay" in Koa.  It incorporates a paddle headstock featuring Gotoh UPT tuner and has an Ebony face plate with the logo inlayed in Mother of Pearl.  The fretboard and bridge are also Ebony and the instrument epitomizes the design mantra of Kinnard ukuleles, "Understated elegance".

Series 2  "Z- Stock" Super Soprano

Mahogany back and sides with a Western Red Cedar top creates a warm, resonant sound not typically found in a soprano size ukulele.  This soprano has excellent volume, resonance and sustain and is ideal for those that like finger-style or chord melody arrangements.  Using a 15" concert scale with our smaller soprano size body produces a very comfortable instrument to hold without sacrificing tone, volume or playability.

"New Design"

John S. Kinnard Slim-line Tenor

This is our new Slim-line tenor model that incorporates all our normal features but with a shallower overall body depth.  This makes it easy to hold most notably when playing standing up and also provides a more direct focused sound or attack.  The overall body depth of 2" retains the tone and volume of our standard tenor by adjusting the profile of the back plate making the thinner body very comfortable to hold and play without sacrificing the tonal qualities Kinnard's are known for.
